Reducing Knee Pain - the Ongoing Story
As I mentioned in a previous post my mom has been challenged with some major pain in her knees the past few years. The pain has become so bad in one knee that she was planning to have knee replacement surgery this spring. After some discussion with my parents my mom, who really has been avoiding having surgery, decided that it would be worth it to really try our strongest herbal product, the Muscle and Joint Kit.
A couple of days after I sent her the M & J Kit I got an excited call from my mom. She just had to tell me that she had been applying the M & J Kit and now she could walk the whole main street of Lahaina (where they had been staying). Before applying the M & J Kit she had a difficult time walking a single block.
Now she has applied the M & J Kit 5 times and though the knee pain hasn't gone away 100%, it is now so much better than it has been in such a long time she felt very confident and has canceled the knee surgery. At least for now.
As I mentioned in my previous post that I thought I had done a good job communicating about what our products could do to my parents and in particular how it could help her knee. But I was wrong and persistence was the key.
And now she is doing so well with her knee people are asking her what happened, which leads her to tell them about these products and it allows others to have the chance to try these formulas.

Dental Tourism in Tijuana
A few years ago I needed to get some dental crowns. And even with dental insurance they're still pretty expensive. I looked around at various options in and around San Diego. Of course in finding an alternative that was more affordable I wanted to make sure that work was high quality too. This was the hardest part to figure out about finding a less expensive alternative.
I had heard of medical tourism in Tijuana, but didn't know much about it. I used the internet to find a number Dentists in Tijuana and did a lot of research on these dentist. In particular I read a number of blogs by Americans who had gotten significant amount of dental work by these dentists. And of course I called and talked to the dentists and I settled on an English speaking dentist.
Since I live in San Diego the logistics for me wasn't too bad. I drove to the border, parked on the US side and walked across. I took a 5 minute taxi ride for $5 to the dentist's office. Dr. de la Vega met me right away to say hello (he is the only person in his office that speaks English). I didn't wait too long before he got to work. Some of the work was done by Dr. de la Vega and some by his root canal specialist Dr Camacho.
After the work was done, which included a temporary crown for this first trip, I took the taxi back to the border and walked across to the US to my car.
I went back a week later to get the real crowns without any problem. This included getting a root canal on one of my wisdom teeth which is trickier root canal than others. (I pushed for this since I have all of the rest of my wisdom teeth. All dentists were more inclined to pull it.)
Now like most, going to the dentist is not a pleasant thing, regardless of which country or city I'm in. So I can't say that this an enjoyable, but it was no less or more painful than any other similar trip to the dentist. However, this cost a sixth of what it usually costs in the US. I had two US quotes for nearly $6,000 and ended up paying about $1,000. So at least one way was less painful by going to Tijuana to get my dental work done.
I've continued to get all my dental work in Tijuana. I've gotten one filling and one crown since I first went over 3 years ago. Typically it's fairly easy since Dr. de la Vega has a San Diego phone number and takes credit cards. Once in a while it has taken me up to an hour and half to go through the line at the border. But that has been the exception and not the rule.

Keeping the Weight Off
So it's been a year since I started losing weight. My goal was to lose 15 pounds. My initial plan was to lose weight by changing my diet to a low-carb, high protein diet which I had read about and to increase by exercise. After the first week of following this plan, I was hungry and miserable much of the time and I hadn't really lost any weight.
Being committed to losing this weight I decided to consider other ways to help me lose weight. And I came to the obvious conclusion to use some of the products that my company has available to help with weight loss. (Duh!) For me the ones that I preferred to use were the Slimming Herbal Soak and the Slimming Patches. There's also a Slimming Formula that many people prefer, but I happen to like the Soaks and it has many of the same benefits as the Slimming Formula. (There are also Programs that have all 3 of the products together.)
Almost immediately after starting to use these two products I started to lose weight and I wasn't hungry. I did keep a stronger workout schedule and I still watched what I ate. But both these products seem to keep my hunger in check and the Slimming Soak seemed to actually knock off the pounds when I took a bath with it. Basically I lost my 15 pounds in less than 2 months.
Now that I lost my desired amount of weight I do use these products occasionally when I expect I will be eating too much (think Thanksgiving and Christmas) or even after I have over indulged. But in general I've kept the 15 pounds off over the past year without any effort at all.

6 Ways to Start a New Good Habit
So most of know at least a few things we need to do to improve ourselves. Whether it's exercising more, eating better, learning more or just taking more stress-free time for yourself. We make new year's resolutions and other commitments many times only to fizzle out. We just get caught up in our old patterns and we need some tools to help break those patterns.
Most people know by now, but to get make a new habit part of your weekly pattern you usually need to be consistent with your new habit for at least 3 weeks.
Depending on your own character makeup, one or more of the following approaches are useful in helping to really make the changes you desire.
1) Make a commitment to one or more people that you really admire. You can write a letter or you make a public statement or you make private commitment to someone whose opinion matters to you.
2) Join a group or class that is trying to achieve the same goals that you have. For many things, such as weight loss, there are online groups you can join where you report your progress or you can join a local group if that works better for you.
3) Lie to yourself. Many times when it comes to do our new habit, we have a lot of excuses and reasons not to do it. So just lie to yourself to counter those arguments against doing it. For example, if you're trying to make working out part of your daily routine and when it comes to doing it you find your inner thoughts fighting it, just tell yourself you'll do it for 5 minutes. Many times if you can get started, you'll finish your routine. Even if you don't, at least you got a start and maybe tomorrow you'll do more.
4) Make it as easy as possible to do your new routine. If you have a new diet, you don't need to have a different meal every meal. See if you can break it down to 3-4 different meals.
5) Don't be a perfectionist. It's more important to get going on your new habit than to keep putting it off until everything is perfect. If you are starting a new exercise routine, it's better to do it for a short time than not to do it all. Or if you are starting to lose weight, eat just a little bit less and don't wait until you bought the perfect meals that took days or weeks to research. Start right away.
6) Have a picture in your mind or on your refrigerator of what life will be like when you achieve your goal. Or for some people it's better to keep in mind what will happen if you don't create this new habit. Make it as real as possible.

Perisistence in Educating People on Healing Herbs is Key
Of all the years that I've been educating people about the healing properties of herb, my parents have probably heard about and benefited as much as anyone. However it's amazing that I still need to cover some of the same information about what herbs can do for them.
My mom, who is now 80, has had issues with her knees for the past years. I have mentioned many times about using the herbal formulas to reduce the pain in her knees.
Over the years she has a number of issues with her knees, but the biggest issue right now seems to be arthritis throughout her knees. A couple of times she has actually used the Muscle and Joint Spray and the Muscle & Joint Kit on her knees. And each time she has experienced a reduction in pain in her knees. But to get the most benefit from the herbal formulas you usually need to use these products more than once.
I was just visiting my parents in the last couple of weeks and my mom was definitely having problems with her knees. She is even planning to have a new knee next month. I suggested using the Muscle & Joint Spray a couple of times (which I brought with me as usual) to reduce the pain. She did finally use it one night and the next day she did have a reduction in pain, but she didn't associate it with using the spray.
When my parents were taking me to the airport, we got in a discussion about whether the herbs could really, really help her knees. I did point out all the times the herbs have helped their various body issues out. Which they agreed with and I pointed out that it might be worth seriously trying these formulas before trying surgery. And this morning her knees hurt so much less than usual she had to call me and let me know. She was really excited about this. I of course said this was a good thing, and I said it was important to continue to use the spray twice a day (or more). I'm also still sending her some Muscle & Joint Kits to use as well.
Though I don't know the next part of the story yet, the lesson here is that it is important to be persistent to let people know the value of herbs in the healing process. That way they can get the benefits that good herbal formulas can provide.

Slimming Baths Tip The Balance
As I mentioned in my earlier blog, I've started a weight loss project of my own starting at the beginning of the year. Until my late 40s I never thought about weight issues as I was always pretty thin and ate whatever I wanted without a thought.
But now at 54 my weight has slowly creeped up on me and I've finely decided it isn't going away without some focused attention. In my earlier post I talked some about how I got started and measuring is an important part of figuring out what works and what doesn't.
In the first week my weight seemed pretty erratic, up and down, even though I was following eating guidelines of the high protein, low carb diet I was following.
But through my meaurements I was able to see that the single thing that I lost weight through was taking the Slimming Soaks from Ancient Herbal Secrets (the company I'm president of, for full discloure). This really surprised me that this was so effective in out and out losing weight. Every time I took an herbal soak I loss between 2.5 and 3 pounds! I expected this to be more gradual help.
When I started losing weight I really didn't expect that one of our products would be a big part of the process. When I read about the high protein, low carb diet, I thought all I would have to do was follow the food program and stay on my usual workout schedule and easily lose weight. But that wasn'tsufficient.
With certain workouts of mine I lose a half to a full pound which is the next biggest weight loss activity that I can do. But without the soaks I would never be consistently losing weight. I don't lose weight everyday, but I lose weight most days and I gain only a little on the days that I don't lose weight. And I'm not starving myself either.
I started my weight loss project on January 5th and here on the 22nd I've loss 8 pounds. It's about 1/2 pound a day. So far so good. I'm also going to start using the Slimming Patches too. Now that I see that the soaks are so effective, I'm anxious to see how these help even though I won't be able to measure their effectiveness as easily.
